Can a frame be too large or too small for a piece of art.
Frame size is determined as much by the subject and style of a piece of art as it is by the size of the art. Coloration and finish of a frame can be more powerful visually than size. As you look through a selection of samples you will begin to see when a certain size begins to feel comfortable.

What is the differnce between metal leaf and gold leaf?
Gold leaf is almost pure (22k) gold while metal leaf has no gold content. Gold is forever! Yes it cost more, but not significantly, and the color won't change. Gold, even gold that is heavily antiqued, has a wonderful soft brilliance that is unmistakable.

Why do hand finished frames cost more?
The question answers itself. The frame is actually built of raw wood before any finishing or carving is done. All of the carving and finishing is done in stages that often takes days or even weeks. And yes, everything is hand done.
